“UOB aims to drive sustainable good and foster more caring and inclusive societies. UOB is also committed to championing the social development in the areas of art, children and education. Inspired and driven by the commitment, a lot of CSR volunteers in UOBC Beijing Branch have been proactively and consecutively joining the parade to provide their support for inclusivity and autistic children.”

Cynthia Xin Tao (Acting Head of Wholesale Banking China, Head of Corporate Banking China, Branch Manager of Beijing Branch)

“My volunteer journey began in my first year of work in UOB. Volunteering is important to both the community and myself as it helps address many social issues in need of attention. Volunteers provide essential support and assistance to the community by donating their time and talents.

For individuals, volunteering not only enhances a sense of social responsibility but also improves personal skills and experiences, promoting personal growth and development.

It is my pleasure to contribute to this meaningful journey for the rest of my life.”

Catherine Ji Bing (Cash Sales, Transaction Banking)

“Volunteering has always been a source of inspiration for me. It’s the act of giving without any expectation of return, which is truly remarkable. Witnessing the positive impact my small contributions can have on people’s lives fills me with immense satisfaction and motivates me to do more. I am moved by the idea that even in our busy lives, we can make a difference. This altruistic spirit drives me to volunteer regularly and inspired me to be a better person.”

“Volunteering offers me an opportunity to contribute positively to various causes, whether it is supporting children, helping the environment or serving communities in need. The joy of connecting with others and collaboratively working towards a common goal often fosters a sense of fulfilment and purpose. Engaging in diverse tasks, from organising activities to providing services, allows me to witness the direct impact of our efforts, which can be a powerful motivator. These experiences often deepen my appreciation for community spirit and inspire continued involvement in future initiatives, all while building connections and memories with fellow participants and beneficiaries.”

Cyrus Lee (Senior Vice President, Transaction Banking, UOB Hong Kong)

“I was really interested in this sign-language programme. Though being older than my peers, I initially had concerns about learning something new. However, I was motivated by my brother—who has mild to moderate hearing impairment and wanted to better understand his challenges.

The (sign language) class turned out to be a fun and eye-opening experience, especially given the fact we had the opportunity to interact with the hearing-impaired students. It felt less like a training session and exploring a new world.

While I wish UOB had introduced this earlier, I am hopeful we can foster an inclusive culture and create more opportunities for the community with the ongoing support from the management.”

“The sign language session with the hearing-impaired students was a humbling experience, reminding me of the many things I’m fortunate to have in life.

From the moment the session began, I was inspired by how UOB contribute to the growth of the hearing-impaired community, offering them the chance to thrive together with us.

In the world that we live in today, we must always be prepared to serve a diverse range of customers. This includes people with disabilities. I believe this (sign language) class is a significant step for UOB in fostering a more inclusive community.”

“I like helping those in need, not for any reward, but to let them know that life is full of infinite hope. Through participating in UOB Heartbeat, I aim to convey the power of love and hope. I believe that every act of kindness can make the world a better place. Helping others has enriched my life and made me deeply appreciate the importance of care and mutual support.”

Wong Jing Sheng (Manager, Credit Administration & Control, Credit Control Retail, Documentation Control)

“Being part of UOB Heartbeat has been such a fulfilling journey. I’ve met incredible people, learned so much about the challenges others face, and found a sense of purpose in giving back. It’s an experience I’ll always cherish.”

Norain Bte Ishak (AVP, PFS-BPA)

“Volunteering makes me feel a sense of joy and self-accomplishment. My first event was at a local orphanage. Since I was blessed with a pleasant childhood, it was eye-opening to see many children from less-privileged backgrounds. After a day of playing with them, it broke my heart when the orphans hugged us volunteers goodbye and told us not to leave. Ever since, I want to be more selfless and keep doing more to help impact those around me in a positive way. I hope that more UOB employees would also take the chance to volunteer and gain more exposure in life.”

Susie Foo Ai Kien (Assistant Vice President, GAM-Gov & Compliance-Corp Governance)

“I volunteer because the beneficiaries never fail to inspire me with their positive attitude. Their appreciation always reminds me that our small efforts can mean a lot to others.

I am privileged to be working in an organisation that truly believes in helping the community. There are so many needs around us and we grow when we respond to those needs. UOB provides so many opportunities to volunteer and actively encourages us to do so. I would be missing out on a big part of #LifeatUOB if I did not get involve in volunteerism.”

Choo Tuck Wai (Head of Risk Strategy, Group Governance, Risk and Compliance)

“Because I enjoy helping others, when I saw the community programmes to support young people, communities and environment, I was immediately interested. Plus, it is a great way to spend my free time in a meaningful way.

After joining, I felt so happy seeing the kids smiling and joyful, which brought me happiness as well. It was a way to recharge with positive energy by doing something good for society.

I am very grateful to be part of UOB, which gives me the opportunities to contribute to the community. Thank you for the chance to participate in activities.”

Somsuda Suesakulpaisal (Senior Retail & Operation Audit Officer, Retail & Operation Audit)

“A seed grows with no sound but tree falls with huge noise. Keeping the good going is like planting seeds of fulfilment, hope, love and joy in silence. But it will come back to you in abundance. This is the law of nature. My volunteering journey with UOB Vietnam started from the UOB Heartbeat Run, UOB Painting of the Year, wellness activities, upcycling and more recently, forest planting and bathing, is an inspiring journey. Let us sow the seeds of keeping the good going now, for our earth and future generations.”

Nguyen Phi Phuong (Market and Liquidity Risk Management, Risk Management, UOBV)

“CSR activities gave me a chance to pay it forward, expressing my gratitude for the opportunities I've received by giving back to the community. Seeing the smiles of the children as they tried painting for the first time, brought me immense joy and emotional fulfilment, providing me a meaningful break from daily stresses. Witnessing the sand hill covered by trees gives me a deeper sense of purpose.  These activities motivates me to continue making more positive impact to the community and environment.”

Pham Thi Dieu (Internal Audit, UOBV)

“What does happiness mean to you? For me, it’s when I show love to the people around me and also feel love from them! That’s why I want to do good for community and spread it to others. Please join me!”

Nguyen Trung Hieu (Sales Planning Analyst, Sales Planning & Performance Management, UOBV)
