Plastic Recyclers Ecosystem Financing
Plastic Recyclers Ecosystem Financing builds on collaborations involving plastic recyclers to help collect all used plastic goods for recycling; keeping the city true to its objective of being green.
'The future for plastic recycling in Asia is bright' report
The global plastic recycling rate is rising on heightened environmental awareness of plastic pollution. In Asia, the future of plastic recycling is poised for growth from a low base as several governments offer financial support schemes and tax incentives to companies that implement plastic waste reduction and plastic recycling.
Plastics can be recycled through the Circular Plastics Economy, via methods such as mechanical and chemical recycling. Asian governments are showing strong support through roadmaps and frameworks. Watch this video to find out more.

Real Estate Sustainable Financing
Up to 70% of a large city's greenhouse gas emissions are related to its buildings. Hence, real estate plays an instrumental role in a city's transformation to become sustainable.
'Green building trends and financing solutions' report
Developers in Asia are building more green buildings and retrofitting existing ones to a market accepted green standard. Buildings that are certified green enjoy better corporate branding, lower operating costs and potential valuation uplift and increasing demand by investors/tenants.
There are numerous factors contributing to the growth of green buildings. For example, governments have launched initiatives to guide the market towards greater sustainability. Watch this video to find out more.
About the solution
Stakeholders who are building, upgrading or acquiring a green building with an acceptable building certification standard, are able to leverage on UOB's Real Estate Sustainable Financing for their eligible asset and apply for a Green Loan.
For corporates with a sustainability agenda that is ambitious, measurable and meaningful, they may also obtain Sustainability-Linked Loans (SLL) to help finance their agenda. UOB’s SLL facilities, through the alignment of incentivised pricing, encourage stakeholders to achieve pre-determined performance targets, and make a positive change which contributes to a sustainable green city. Our SLL facilities have been utilised by both developers and investors to invest in environmentally beneficial initiatives.

Transition Financing
Typically, energy or fossil fuel-intensive sectors such as oil, gas and chemicals, logistics and transportation (marine, land and aviation), fossil fuel-based power generation, and metals and mining, are excluded from taking on green financing. This is due to the “carbon locked-in” effect where companies in these sectors are deemed by Second Party Opinion providers as perpetuating, delaying or preventing the transition to low-carbon alternatives.
About the solution
To help companies in the energy or fossil fuel-intensive sectors embark on energy transition, UOB Transition Financing offers a suite of solutions for the ecosystem. This suite of solutions targets transition activities such as improving operational efficiency, pivoting to lower carbon fuels, implementing carbon capture technologies and usage of carbon offsets, across the ecosystem of project owners, contractors, suppliers, buyers and users.
