Artist: Loong, Ben
Title: The River
Medium: Mixed media on wood (Resinated drywall plaster and gold leaf)
Size (cm): 154 x 194
The River is inspired by geographical phenomena, the heavily textured surface reminiscent of the topography that one observes of plateaus and valleys from an aerial viewpoint.
As the viewer moves through the lines and curves of the artwork, a glimmer of gold catches the eye, bringing to mind the reflection of a river running through a rugged terrain. With the use of industrial drywall plaster and building techniques in its application to create textures and patterns found in the physical environment, The River brings together the ideas of materiality and construction, inviting the viewer to question the value of our physical world.
