Passages of Time is inspired by the indigenous Malayan architecture that has been imprinted in the mind of the artist since he was a young child.
To the artist, renovation, demolition and rebuilding of structures are architectural interventions that reflect changes in a locality as well as changes in time. Often dictated by technological development and advancement, such changes have resulted in the rise of materialism in society. People seem to have forgotten their identity with the introduction of new things, and that identity may have been lost over time, the essence of this message captured visually through the artist’s composition in the artwork.
Mr Hayiyusoh is from Narathiwat, Southern Thailand. His work has been exhibited at the 8th National Children’s Art Competition in Thailand in 2013, and he has presented in a group exhibition at the Bangkok Biennial in 2018.
