Artist: Nadya Jiwa Saraswati
Title: Bukankah Redam Membuat Ceruk Yang Gaduh (Doesn’t the Silence Create Noise in the Nook)
Medium: Oil on canvas
Size (cm): 100 x 150
The artwork invites the viewer to dive into the mystery and obscurity of visual experience, speaking about the limited human perceptions. Figures, objects and landscapes in the artwork are the result of whitewashing and erasing the colours and shapes from fragments of memories, both moving and still, in the mind.
The artist created the artwork by sweeping vibrant and earthy colours, then smudging them until they turn blur and melt, to show the emotions running through the layers of the paint.
Ms Saraswati graduated from the Bandung Institute of Technology, Indonesia. She is active in group exhibitions, including “I Know What I Do; And I still do it: 15x15x15 Mini Art Project”, Soemardja Gallery, Bandung Indonesia.
