In his 25 years of experience in the banking industry, he has
held a range of positions in the areas of strategic planning,
business management, product development, sales and
distribution, technology and banking infrastructure
development and other areas of corporate services.
He joined UOB in 2005 as Head of Secured Loans, Personal
Finance Services in UOB Singapore. From 2009 to 2010, he
served as a Managing Director, heading Sales and Distribution
in UOB Singapore. From 2011 to 2013, he moved to head Personal
Financial Services in UOB Malaysia.
He served as Deputy CEO in UOB Malaysia from 2013 to 2015. He
was appointed as President Director of UOB Indonesia in 2015
to July 2020.

operating standards throughout UOB, building a robust and

experience. He has served as the Group CEO of UOB Asset
Management (UOBAM) since 2011, moving to the role from his
previous appointment as Chief Investment Officer. Under his
leadership, UOBAM has established itself as a leading regional
player in the asset management industry, receiving significant
industry recognition in Singapore and the region.
Over the years, UOBAM has won over 200 top awards from
prestigious organisations and publications such as
Morningstar, Refinitiv and The Asset Benchmark across the
region.

regional marquee award, the prestigious “Best Asia Fund House”

Asian asset management.
This has borne tangible fruit in the form of UOBAM Invest,
Singapore’s first robo-advisory app launched by an established
asset manager in 2020. UOBAM was also the first in Singapore
to pioneer a corporate platform version in 2018 which was
subsequently rolled out in Malaysia a year later.
Boon Kiat has also championed the cause for sustainable
investing in Asia. A firm believer in “Investing for Purpose

Nations-supported Principles for Responsible Investment. This

Dean developed vast experience working across multiple

University of Chicago. He is also a board director of one of a
large non-profit organisation in Singapore, serving as a
member of its Treasury and Investment committees.

Benny Chan has a passion in transforming businesses. In his
20 years of banking experience, he has financed customers to
save failed businesses, and execute transformation plans. He
has also built a banking business from scratch in the
Education services sector and led the way in entering the
market in Myanmar for a regional bank.
In 2012, he heads up a regional SME Banking digital
transformation team and developed new SME online account
opening and online loans application straight through
capabilities before the first digital banks were doing so. He
is also one of the first in the industry then, to develop
internal sales force mobile apps that could provide
Relationship Managers with complete information of their
customers and sales opportunities while on the go. He also
established a strong SME banking social media presence and
started building data models to compute customer propensity to
buy products in the SME banking space.
He is currently the Head of Channels & Digitalisation for UOB
Singapore. In his current role, Benny is head of UOB’s branch
network in Singapore including Privilege Banking and Wealth
Banking centres and the ATM / Self Service machine network,
and is leading efforts to transform the network to complement
digital channels as part of an omni-channnels strategy to
better serve customers and cross-sell complex consumer and SME
banking products.
