UOB Clinches its First Innovation Award
UOB's innovative data warehousing implementation receives thumbs up at Informatica World Conference
09 June 2005, Singapore
United Overseas Bank (UOB) is pleased to announce that it has won the Informatica Innovation Award in the Data Warehousing category. The prize presentation ceremony was held at the annual Informatica World Conference 2005 in Washington, D.C. on 7 June 2005. This is the first time UOB has won this award.
Organised by Informatica Corporation, a leading provider of enterprise data integration software, the Innovation Award recognises customers that have successfully leveraged Informatica's data integration solutions to reduce complexity, improve efficiency, and empower the business with a holistic and consistent view of their enterprise information.
The award was conferred to UOB for its innovative use of Informatica's data integration platform. Data from 26 different source systems residing on heterogeneous platforms across three countries were transformed and integrated with ease into a single Global Data Warehouse with the help of Informatica PowerCenter. Another flagship application is UOB's Collections System, which leverages the product to retrieve timely and accurate data from source systems for more effective recovery of delinquent accounts. As a result, the Bank achieved a 20% reduction of non-performing loans within the first six months of its implementation in Singapore.
The project was handled in partnership with Knowledge Dynamics.
Said Ms Susan Hwee, Executive Vice President, Information Technology, "We are very honoured to receive this global award from Informatica. The Innovation Award is a testimony to the Bank's commitment to innovate and strategise its investments in areas that will create value and growth for our stakeholders. It is also recognition of the team's effort and constant desire to excel, without which we could not have won this award."
Judged by a panel of cross-functional representatives from Informatica, seven winning entries and three partnering award winners were selected from a huge number of nominations received from its 2,200 customers worldwide. Evaluation was based on how innovative the company's project was, the business value that it provided and the overall impact the project had within the IT department and across the enterprise.
"United Overseas Bank's tremendous results with its data warehouse implementation showcases the company's insightful approach and foresight to data integration. We are pleased that the company has achieved such significant success using Informatica's data integration solution," said Mr. Len Fischer, director of customer advocacy at Informatica.
